Dr. Robert Heller
Prosthodontist and Implant Specialist
Excellence & Education
Dr. Robert Heller stands as an authoritative figure and a thought leader in the field of implantology. He holds a dental degree from The Ohio State University School of Dentistry, completed his prosthodontics residency at The Medical College of Virginia, and pursued intensive implant residency and graduate training at Loma Linden University, CA.
Currently, Dr. Heller serves as Co-Director at the Midwest Implant Institute (MII), a distinguished institution known for its comprehensive training programs aimed at integrating implantology seamlessly into general dental practices. Dr. Heller has a passion for teaching. He offers a breadth of instructional courses covering foundational implant placement techniques to advanced procedures such as bone grafting, nerve repositioning, and sinus elevation. He is a respected lecturer at national forums including the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) and Rutkowski Seminars, contributing his insights at the forefront of dental innovation.
Professional Affiliations
Dr. Heller has served as President of the Ohio Section of the American College of Prosthodontists and Chairman for the Ohio Dental Association’s Sub council on Young Dentists. He is an Associate Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, staff member at Grady Memorial Hospital, and serves on the Board of Directors of the Columbus Dental Society. Dr. Heller is an active member in The American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Columbus Dental Society & American College of Prosthodontists, and is an Honored Fellow of the AAID and MII Fellow. He has published multiple articles and continually presents lectures on a national scale.
Home Life
He loves spending time with his wonderful wife, Amy. They greatly enjoy any time they get to spend with their four beautiful daughters (along with some sons-in-law and grandkids). He’s also a big fan of playing golf and supporting OSU football.
Dr. John Shin
Education
Prior to dental school, Dr. Shin earned his Bachelor Science degrees in both Microbiology and Business Marketing at The Ohio State University. He went on to the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he earned his Doctor of Dental medicine (DMD) degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Advanced Training
Dr. Shin is an Extern of The Midwest Implant Institute and a current resident of the Jacksonville University Oral Implantology Program where he will earn his master’s degree to become a specialist in dental implants. He completed his IV sedation training through Miami Valley Hospital. Dr. Shin has dedicated himself to countless hours of continuing education on implant dentistry, aesthetic excellence using minimally invasive veneers, botox and fillers, TMD therapy, myofascial pain, periodontal surgeries, endodontics, and is Invisalign certified.
Home Life
He loves spending time with his wife, son, and daughter as well as trying new restaurants, playing sports, and taking part in his church community.
Samantha (Heller) Ogunmola

Family Legacy
As the daughter of Dr. Rob Heller and granddaughter of founder Dr. Duke Heller, Samantha is part of the family legacy at OIRD. She loves working with her dad and is extremely passionate about serving our wonderful patients. Seeing the way a new smile can change a life is the highlight of her career.
Background and Education
Samantha graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Human Development and earned a masters in Education from the College of Charleston, where she also cheered. Go Cougars! When her family suggested she try working at the family practice, she began as a receptionist. After years of learning and growing with the practice, she is now their proud COO.
Outside the Office
Samantha is a globe-trotting bookworm with a passion for history, fitness, and fashion. As the wife of Babajide and stepmom to Ayo, she cherishes family time, whether it’s taking long walks through the charming streets of German Village, taking a Pure Barre class, or experimenting in the kitchen. With an eye for style, Samantha loves diving into Pinterest and vintage Vogue archives to craft unique outfits. When she’s not traveling the world or staying active, she loves getting lost in a good book and playing with her nieces.
