With a journey that began 60 years ago, Oral Implants & Reconstructive Dentistry (OIRD) has not only become widely known as Central Ohio’s Premier Implant Specialists, but also nationally regarded as experts in the field. Dentists across the United States refer their patients to Lewis Center for the most advanced care available.
Pioneering Dental Implants
The founder, Dr. Duke Heller, was a pioneer in implant dentistry. Searching for a denture alternative, he began creating dental implants in the 1960s in his basement. In addition to serving patients locally, he worked together with dentists all over the country to develop multiple implant options for different patient needs.
Impacting the World
With a desire to spread to the world what he was offering patients in his own practice, Dr. Heller founded the Midwest Implant Institute in 1980 as the first implant training center in the United States. Since then, dentists worldwide have trained with Dr. Heller and his team to offer their patients innovative treatments, including implants, full-mouth rehab, and prosthetics. The Midwest Implant Institute’s ability to provide education coupled with a true “hands-on” clinical and surgical experience for the doctor and staff is surpassed by no other training environment.
A Family Legacy of Life Change
Ten years after the Midwest Implant Institute began, Dr. Heller’s son Rob Heller finished dental school and joined OIRD. Today with Dr. Rob Heller at the helm along with a team of clinical experts and his daughters serving as office manager and insurance coordinator, it continues to be a practice driven by family. In addition to serving patients at OIRD, Dr. Rob Heller also serves as Director of the Midwest Implant Institute (MII) which continues to help Dental Schools develop their dental implant programs and teach countless doctors to become dental implant surgeons.
An Extraordinary Dental Home
More than just treating patients, the experts and specialists at OIRD care deeply about the people they get to serve. They work hard to empower healthy lifestyles through the highest level of specialized dentistry and personalized care. It has become the go-to destination for not only improving daily health and transforming smiles, but also for experiencing the latest in cutting-edge dental solutions. They’ve seen it all and solved it all. But they don’t rest on decades of success. “Nowhere else could do this.”
Two extractions and four implants all at the same time while under anesthesia. Nowhere else could do this. Traveled from Georgia for them to do my procedure. Money and time well spent.
