Dental crowns are an effective way to restore the strength and appearance of severely damaged teeth. If a tooth is cracked, broken, misshapen, damaged by decay, or too short, we can use a crown to beautifully improve its look and function! They are also a permanent, natural-looking solution to missing teeth. At Oral Implants & Reconstructive Dentistry, we can use our in-office CEREC machine to design, create, and place custom dental crowns in a single visit!
CEREC crowns are amazing dental appliances that we can design and craft right here in our office. CEREC stands for the “chairside economical restoration of esthetic ceramics.” This technology eliminates the need to order custom crowns from a 3rd party dental laboratory. Instead, we can use a digital scanner to take detailed impressions of your teeth, which we can then use to design a custom crown in our lab.
CEREC crowns are made with the same durable, high-quality materials as traditional ones. Before making a final product, our team will carefully design your crown to match the shape and color of your surrounding teeth. By doing this, we can ensure it will blend in with the rest of your smile. Your new restoration will look and feel natural.
To begin, Dr. Heller or Dr. DiDonato will use an advanced digital scanner to take detailed images of your teeth. They will input this data into our CEREC imaging software to develop a model of your new crown. After making any necessary alterations, the CEREC machine will craft your new crown right here in our dental lab!
Once your crown is ready, Dr. Heller or Dr. DiDonato will prepare your tooth. They may need to remove some of the tooth’s enamel to make room for the new dental appliance. After preparing your tooth, they will attach your crown with a strong dental glue. Your dentist will finish by checking your bite and making any necessary last-minute adjustments. In one visit, you can enjoy a beautiful new restoration!
Our team here at Oral Implants & Reconstructive Dentistry can use CEREC crowns to fix a variety of cosmetic and restorative dental issues. Because we can craft CEREC crowns in our office, we can generally complete your treatment in a single visit.
